Grand Gulf State Park, also known as "Missouri's Grand Canyon" is a forked canyon formed from the remnant of a collapsed ancient dolomite cave system. The canyon is publicly accessible and is located near Thayer, Missouri. The water that enters the canyon travels underground to Mammoth Spring in Arkansas 9 miles to the south. I visited in early winter (December 2016) to get a better view of the canyon itself, unblocked by foliage.
