Cottonwood Falls KS is the county seat of Chase County, subject of William Least Heat-Moon's book PrairyErth
The city is also the largest city in Chase County, however, the current population is under 900. It has never had much more than 1000 people. The town dates back to the 1850s. A centerpiece of the town is the French-style architecture of the Chase County courthouse, built in 1873.
My favorite spot in Cottonwood Falls is the bridge over the Cottonwood River with a small park by the river ideal for picnics or a relaxing travel break.
