INTRODUCTION

This blog is to chronicle various journeys of mine, focusing primarily on the Central U.S. and mostly dealing with sites of natural or geological interest, roadside oddities, rail travel, and ghost towns. In mid-2016, inspired by the writings of Jack Kerouac and William Least Heat Moon, among others, I quit 1 of my 2 jobs I had at the time and dedicated myself to beginning to explore as much of the USA as possible when not working the job I kept. This site is to present a chronicle of these excursions, past and future. These articles, photos, and videos are not presented to impress or compete with anyone. In fact, the photos and videos are relatively low-tech, taken with a simple cell phone. These posts are presented as a way for me to remember places I have been and to possibly spark an interest in some off-the-beaten track destinations for others who might be interested. The posts are presented in random, non-chronological order.
